Man sets Kennewick home on fire in middle of the day, police say

Police arrested who they believe set a Kennewick house on fire late Saturday morning.

Sean Patrick Delvaux, 34, had been staying with the people at 1120 W. Kennewick Ave. off and on before he showed up with a gas can just before 11:30 a.m., according to police.

A woman raced out to confront him after seeing him through a kitchen window pouring gas around the house, Kennewick Officer Cory McGee said.

He allegedly didn’t respond before lighting the fire and running away.

Kennewick firefighters found flames threatening to go into the attic. They had the fire under control within 20 minutes.

Two people and a dog escaped the house when the fire started. No one was hurt.

Police sent out a call for help finding Delvaux shortly after noon. Police caught up with him Saturday afternoon near 22 Carmichael Drive.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree arson.
