Pasco arsonist torches stolen car and more. Police investigate if fires are connected

Pasco police are investigating how a pair of suspicious fires started that damaged a stolen car and scorched a building this week.

The first fire was spotted at 2:41 a.m. Wednesday in an alley next to the Franklin County PUD building near Clark Street and 14th Avenue, Pasco police said.

The blaze in a pile of car parts and tires damaged a fence and blackened the side of the building.

Then sometime Wednesday night, a thief took off with a 2005 Nissan Altima from the 400 block of North Douglas Avenue. The car ended up on fire a couple blocks away at the corner of Lewis Street and Cedar Avenue at 3:37 a.m.

Police are asking anyone with security cameras in the area to check to see if the arsonist was caught on video.

Anyone with information about either fire should call the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333. They should reference case number 20-09231 for the Clark Street fire, and 20-09233 for the vehicle theft and fire.
