Driver races through Tri-Cities at nearly 130 mph. He abandoned the car in Kennewick

Police came away empty-handed Tuesday morning after a driver led officers on a chase that reached nearly 130 mph at one time through the Tri-Cities.

A Washington State Patrol trooper spotted the white Acura going 116 mph on the highway near Road 100, said Trooper Chris Thorson. The driver refused to stop when the trooper signaled for him to pull over about 10:15 a.m.

The chase continued on Interstate 182 into Richland and back onto Interstate 82, where the driver reached speeds of 129 mph.

“We deployed three spike strips. He drove around two of them, but one of the spike strips did hit one of the vehicle’s tires,” Thorson told the Tri-City Herald.

The driver turned onto Highway 397, and drove into Kennewick.

While police called off the chase, they soon spotted the car parked in the City Market parking lot at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Rainier Street.

Officers closed off the area and were searching. They used two police dogs, but weren’t immediately able to find the man.

Troopers say the car’s registered owner is Eduardo Felix, 34, of Pasco, who has two warrants for his arrest both tied to 2013 crimes — first-degree robbery, unlawful gun possession and escaping community custody.

Investigators don’t know if he was driving the car.
