Drunk driver charged with hitting 2 girls in Pasco crosswalk. One is still hospitalized

A 7-year-old girl is recovering in Spokane after a drunk driver hit her and her friend as they were crossing Lewis Street, say court documents.

Rogelio Luis Lopez, 45, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.082 when he was driving west on Lewis about 8 p.m. Saturday, said Pasco police investigators.

The 7-year-old and an older teen were in a crosswalk near Ninth Avenue when they were hit by Lopez’s Volkswagen Beetle.

The younger girl suffered a serious injury to her face, while the older teen complained about pain in her head and legs.

The teen was treated and later released, and the 7-year-old was flown to Spokane where she was stabilized, said Sgt. Rigo Pruneda.

Lopez is being held on $10,000 bail and facing two counts of vehicular assault and one count of DUI.
