95-year-old dies days after wreck on Interstate 82 near Richland
A 95-year-old Benton City woman died three days after a crash with a stalled car on Interstate 82.
Reba E. Howard died at Kadlec Regional Medical Center on Saturday, the Washington State Patrol said.
She was a passenger in a 2002 Lexus ES heading east on the interstate at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. They were about 3 miles west of Richland when they came upon a 2002 Honda Accord that was stalled in the right lane.
The Honda’s driver, Jesus Cervantes Melendez, 52, of Kennewick, was outside of the car when the crash happened, the state patrol said.
The state patrol did not report whether the driver was with the car when the crash happened.
The Lexus’ driver, Renee A. Russell, 51, of Kennewick, crashed into the Accord, totaling both cars.
Howard and another passenger, Larry T. Russell, 50, of Kennewick, were rushed to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. The two drivers were not hurt.
Everyone inside the car was wearing a seat belt.
No charges have been filed, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
