He brought a gun to Ki-Be High School. Then he threatened a classmate, deputies say
A Ki-Be student ended up in police custody this week after threatening another student while an unloaded gun was in his truck.
Kiona-Benton City High School officials learned shortly after lunch Wednesday that a student had threatened another student in the parking lot, according to a letter to parents from Superintendent Pete Peterson and a Benton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
The gun was visible inside the truck of the student making the threats, but he never took it out, deputies said.
After learning about the weapon, Principal Clay Henry immediately called Benton County deputies, Peterson said. Then he made sure the student was isolated. Peterson said he was in contact with deputies the entire time, and no one was in danger.
The deputy seized the gun.
“All students were very cooperative with the school and the sheriff’s office,” Peterson wrote. “At no time was any student or staff member in imminent danger, and the weapon was never inside the school building.”
The student was disciplined, though the specifics were not made public. He also was arrested.
