Accused drunk driver faces hit-and-run after fleeing Richland bypass highway crash

An alleged drunk driver is accused of running off after causing a crash on the bypass highway and leaving an injured man behind.

Washington State Patrol troopers say Tyler E. Adolf, 33, of Kennewick, was driving drunk, heading east on Highway 240 in a Ford F150 shortly after 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.

He slammed into a 1997 Chevy GMT400 waiting at the Aaron Drive intersection, wrecking his truck and hurting the other driver, Troy L. Simms, 53, of Kennewick, said the WSP.

Adolf abandoned his truck and ran off. He was found later and booked on Wednesday into the Benton County jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and DUI.

Simms was treated at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.
