Kennewick’s new officer is ready to put his nose to the ground
Officer Chris Whitney and Ivan, the department’s new K9, pose for photos during a press conference Wednesday morning at the Kennewick Police station.
Ivan is a two-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix from the Czech Republic.
The duo recently were certified as a patrol K9 team through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
Ivan’s primary duties will be tracking and locating suspects and officer safety.
