2 teens in jail for pulling a gun on a 15-year-old for his headphones, say police
A second teen is behind bars accused of robbing a 15-year-old for his expensive headphones in the bathroom of Kennewick’s Yoke’s Fresh Market.
A 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday in connection with the Dec. 26 robbery at the grocery store. Detectives booked him into the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
The teen’s name was not released. A third suspect has yet to be arrested.
Another suspect, Denali Anderson, 18, of Kennewick, turned himself in on Jan. 10, about a week after a nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest in the case.
He is charged with first-degree robbery and is being held in the Benton County jail on $100,000 bail, according to court records.
The 15-year-old victim was out for a walk on the day after Christmas when he decided to stop by the grocery store on Olympia Street to use the restroom. Police say Anderson, the 17-year-old and a third suspect followed him inside.
The victim was pushed up against a bathroom stall and had a gun pressed to his stomach, according to court records.
Anderson took the victim’s Air Pods headphones, which can cost $129 to $249. He handed them to the suspect with the gun.
The gunman then shoved the gun into the side of the victim’s neck, making it hard for him to breathe, said court documents.
The teen thought he could see the gunman’s finger tightening on the trigger and began to struggle.
The suspects then left and, once outside, they ran to a car where a fourth person drove them away.
Police identified Anderson through a combination of store surveillance footage and a tip, said documents.
