Second teen arrested for allegedly robbing man of cellphone at gunpoint in Kennewick
A 14-year-old has been arrested for his alleged role in robbing a man in Kennewick who was trying to sell a cellphone.
Kennewick police said they arrested the teen boy Tuesday after two days of searching for him.
The teen and a 13-year-old allegedly arranged to meet an 18-year-old man in a parking lot in the 2800 block of Clearwater Avenue at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday to buy a cellphone from him, Kennewick police said. The victim used a buy/sell website similar to Craigslist to set it up, but police did not reveal the name of the site.
Police said that when the parties met, a scuffle started and one of the boys pulled out a gun. They then grabbed the phone and ran.
Detectives tracked the suspects to apartments on the 2600 block of West Bruneau Place and the 2600 block of West Clearwater Avenue. After serving search warrants, they found evidence in both homes and arrested the 13-year-old, and then began searching for the 14-year-old.
Both boys are in the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of robbery, police said.
