A Richland man attacked his girlfriend and now is accused of kidnapping, police say

A man is in jail after attacking his girlfriend and stopping her from leaving their Stevens Drive home on Monday.

Police got a call about a woman being attacked inside an apartment on the 2000 block at 12:45 p.m. When police arrived, they knocked on the door and didn’t get an answer. After a short wait, a distraught woman came running outside.

She told police her boyfriend, Duval Cardwell, 54, attacked her and wouldn’t let her leave, Richland police said on Facebook. Officers found him inside and arrested him.

When officers searched the home they found several guns, which they seized.

Cardwell was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault and felony harassment.
