1 brother is dead, another arrested in Prosser stabbing

A 21-year-old man is in jail accused of fatally stabbing his older brother in Prosser.

Oscar Martinez of Grandview arrived in the Prosser Memorial Hospital parking lot just before midnight Thursday, said Benton County Sgt. John Thompson.

Martinez, 25, was driven there by someone, and Benton County Sheriff’s deputies soon learned he suffered several stab wounds while at a mobile home at 835 Higdon Road, said Sheriff Jerry Hatcher.

Deputies, along with police officers from Prosser and Grandview, went to the home, where they found a woman and small child unharmed.

Later, Alejandro Martinez, 21, of Prosser, was arrested and booked into the Benton County jail on investigation of second-degree murder.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, said Coroner Bill Leach.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 509-628-0333.
