A 12-year-old girl is recovering in a Seattle hospital after crashing into the side by a car Friday night.

The girl was in the crosswalk when she hit the car, said West Richland police.

Police said she and her friend were skateboarding in the area but it’s unclear if they were on their skateboards when they crossed Paradise Way at Eagle Street around 6 p.m.

The girl was flown to Harborview Medical Center, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized by a family friend, Charlette Glines. She said the girl suffered several broken bones.

Her condition was not immediately available.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, according to the agency’s Facebook post.

Paradise Way near Enterprise Middle School was closed for about two and a half hours while police investigated.
