911 not working on northern Franklin County phone lines

Some people in northern Franklin County aren’t able to reach 911 on a landline because of a cut fiber optic line.

Crews are working to fix the outage, but until it’s finished people in Connell, Kahlotus, Mesa and Basin City may not be able to call the dispatch center on a landline, Benton County Emergency Services said.

There is no estimated time until the phone line is fixed.

Until it is, officials are recommending either using a cellphone or calling the non-emergency number at 509-628-0333.
