12-year-old girl hospitalized in Spokane after being hit by truck on Richland sidewalk

A Carmichael Middle School student is recovering in Spokane after she was hit crossing a parking lot driveway on Monday.

A man driving a Chevy pickup was turning into the parking lot on Lee Boulevard to pick up his adult son after just turning off Wellsian Way, said Capt. Chris Lee.

He didn’t see the 12-year-old girl on the sidewalk.

The girl, who was initially believed to be 14, lives in Kennewick but goes to school in Richland. She was heading to the Ben Franklin Transit bus stop when she was struck.
