Connell man jailed for stabbing 2 roommates. He was arrested after 2-hour standoff

A 24-year-old Connell man hid from police for two hours after allegedly attacking two roommates.

Police were called to a home on the 700 block of South Fifth Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Monday where they found a wounded man and woman, Connell police said on Facebook. They were stabbed and cut in their upper body.

They were taken to a local hospital but their conditions were not immediately available.

The suspected attacker, Omar Mendoza-Valencia, was found inside the home he shared with the victims, police said. He refused to come out for two hours.

Connell police received help from the Franklin and Benton county sheriff’s offices, Pasco police, the Washington State Patrol and Franklin County Fire District 1.

He was booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree assault.
