Trucker from Sea-Tac standing along I-82 killed by hit-and-run driver

A 30-year-old semi driver was outside his parked truck on a highway shoulder Sunday afternoon when he was killed by a passing driver.

And the driver kept going.

Lakwinder Singh of SeaTac was pronounced dead at the scene along Interstate 82, two miles west of Zillah.

The other driver and vehicle have yet to been identified.

A Washington State Patrol said Singh’s 1989 Peterbilt truck and trailer were parked off the shoulder of the westbound lanes of I-82 at 4:46 p.m.

Singh was standing off the highway while checking out his truck when another westbound vehicle came along and hit him and then fled.

His truck and trailer were not damaged.

State patrol detectives are investigating the cause of the accident and trying to track down the hit-and-run driver.

Anyone who might have seen the crash or have information on the driver are asked to call the state patrol’s District 3 office in Union Gap at 509-575-2320.
