2 men rob Kennewick butcher shop. They didn’t want meat, just dough

Two men are accused of robbing a butcher shop near downtown Kennewick after going inside under the guise of needing to cash payroll checks.

Kennewick police are looking for the two suspects in the 8:30 p.m. Sunday robbery at Carniceria 3 Pueblos.

Neither robber showed a weapon and no one was hurt, said police Lt. Aaron Clem.

The men ran out of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash taken from the register, said Clem.

Police say it was just after closing time when the suspects walked into the 2446 W. Kennewick Ave. business, between Vista Way and Yelm Street, just west of the Zintel Creek Golf Club.

A cashier told the men the payroll checks could not be cashed since it was after business hours.

That’s when one man walked around the counter to the cash register and demanded money, said the news release from Kennewick police.

The cashier told police they feared they would be hurt if they did not comply.

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his early 30s, about 5-foot-2 and average build with black hair. His hair is shaved on the side and bushy and curly on top, police said. He was wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.

The second man was also Hispanic, in his early 30s, 5-foot-3 and thick build with dark clothing. He had sideburns that extended to his trimmed beard, said police.
