UPDATE: Woman, 70, stabbed in parking lot robbery in downtown Kennewick

Kennewick police were hunting Wednesday night for a suspect who stabbed a 70-year-old woman in a robbery downtown.

The man approached the woman in a parking lot and demanded money, said Officer Craig Hanson. When she said she didn’t have any, he stabbed her in the stomach.

The robbery happened at 4:55 p.m. in the parking lot of the Desert Villa Apartments on the 600 block of Washington Street.

She was taken to Trios Southridge Hospital with injuries that appeared not to be life-threatening, said Hanson.

Officers were searching Washington Street between Sixth Avenue and 10th Avenue.

The man was described as being 5-foot-5, wearing a gray hoodie and gray pants.

Anyone who may have seen the man is asked to call police at 509-628-0333.
