A Kennewick man was found dead in a crashed car south of Benton City early Sunday morning.

A passerby spotted a Subaru Legacy about 6:20 a.m. that had run into a stone retaining wall on Webber Canyon Road about a quarter mile south of the intersection with Badger Road.

Paul S. Samson, 41, died from the collision, said Sgt. John Thompson of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. He was wearing a seat belt.

No one else was in the car.

Samson was driving south and his Subaru appeared to have drifted off the shoulder and followed a ditch before crashing head on into the retaining wall, Thompson said.

Law enforcement officials believe the crash occurred sometime in the night.
