He pulled a fire alarm at CBC. Police say he had a shotgun hidden nearby
An Othello man was charged with planning a shooting at Columbia Basin College in Pasco when he hid a disassembled shotgun and a bag of ammo on campus.
Prosecutors charged Jose Amezola, 18, with first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted assault and harassment in connection with the May 3 incident.
His case is on hold after prosecutors asked for state experts to evaluate if he is competent. Amezola is being held on $1 million bail at the Franklin County jail.
Amezola reportedly left a disassembled .410 caliber shotgun hidden next to the flagpole at the veterans memorial, and a backpack with ammo in a separate building.
Police believe he went into the HUB, where a trivia event was going on, and pulled a fire alarm. A Columbia Basin College security officer spotted him leaving the area and stopped him until Pasco police arrived.
Amezola appeared high on drugs, Pasco Sgt. Brian Vaught said.
