Two Pasco schools were locked down for about a half hour this morning.

A report of a domestic dispute and a possible weapon sent Pasco police to a home near the intersection of 24th Avenue and Court Street around 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Scott Warren said.

As a precaution, officers contacted the Pasco School District and asked officials to lock the doors at nearby Stevens Middle School and Chess Elementary.

Students in Stevens were already in class, and students arriving at Chess were sent inside before class started, said Shane Edinger, the district’s spokesman.

After more investigation, the officers learned there wasn’t a weapon or a domestic incident, Warren said.

The lockdown was lifted about 8:30 a.m.
