A Kennewick driver thought she made a clean getaway. She was wrong.
A Franklin County deputy wasn’t finished working even after he clocked out.
At 6:24 a.m. Friday morning, the deputy was ending his shift when he came across a damaged Ford Focus in the middle of the road on the 1800 block of 37th Avenue in Kennewick, said Officer Roman Trujillo.
The car had been parked on the side of the road before it was hit.
The driver that hit it left the scene, but did not realize she left a trail of fluid leaking from her car behind her.
The deputy followed the trail to the closed garage door at a home on the 4000 block of West Quincy Place.
At the same time, he noticed Raymond C. Salinas, 21, of Pasco, and Kameron G. Mullaly, 20, of Kennewick, getting ready to drive away. He stopped them and called Kennewick police.
Investigators say Mullaly was behind the wheel of the Chevy Malibu in the garage.
She was booked on suspicion of hit-and-run. Salinas, who initially lied to officers about his name, was arrested for multiple warrants and false reporting.
