A Tri-City burglary suspect is in jail after he didn’t realize he was caught on camera stealing a camera.

The Gary R. Stoda, 54, broke into a home on the 2600 block of South Gum Street on Wednesday and got away with a video camera worth more than $1,000.

What he didn’t realize is he was being recorded on a home security camera, said the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy recognized Stoda and found him driving in Kennewick.

When deputies searched Stoda, they found a meth pipe along with some heroin and the video camera.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of meth and heroin.
