Kennewick child rape suspect tracked down in Oregon
A Tri-City child rape suspect didn’t get far before police caught up with him.
A nationwide warrant was issued for Pedro Zalamanca Zalamanca, 36, earlier this week. He is charged with first-degree rape of a child and first-degree child molestation.
Detectives and the U.S. Marshals Service tracked the man about 60 miles away in Milton-Freewater, where he had moved in with some relatives, said Kennewick police. He was arrested there Thursday morning and was booked into the Benton County jail in the afternoon.
Zalamanca Zalamanca allegedly raped a grade-school girl over several years. He allegedly threatened to kill her family if she told them.
The warrant set bail at $20,000.
