Police search dunes for suspected copper wire thieves
Pasco police are on the hunt for a pair of suspected copper thieves who escaped into the dunes along Broadmoor Boulevard on Monday.
Thieves previously sneaked into a nearby home construction site and stole copper wire.
A witness who knew about that theft saw two men in a vacant area who appeared to be stripping wiring to remove the copper. The witness confronted them and called police, said Pasco Sgt. Chad Pettijohn.
Officers were on their way when the men got into a tan GMC Sierra and drove off. Pasco police and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies scoured the area for about an hour but weren’t able to find the men.
The pickup truck’s license plate is C61493G.
Anyone with information on the truck or the men is asked to call 911 or to contact Pasco police at 509-545-3421 or non-emergency dispatchers at 509-545-3510.
