Highway 395 was blocked for a time Friday afternoon when a driver turned in front of an oncoming car at Kennewick Avenue.

The collision happened at 2:35 p.m. at the busy intersection near Safeway and McDonald’s in Kennewick.

Washington State Patrol troopers said Wendy B. Rodriguez, 40, of Oroville, was headed south on the highway in a Chevy Cruz when she tried to turn left onto Kennewick Avenue.

She didn’t yield to a Dodge Neon coming north on the highway. That driver was Gina L. Castle, 52, of Kennewick.

Both women were hurt and taken to Trios Southridge Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
