A driver, a gun and intercity road rage ends in Richland

A 56-year-old man decided to add a gun to a case of intercity road rage.

The man, driving a Chevy van, cut off a pickup pulling a trailer near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Edison Street in Kennewick, Washington State Patrol Trooper James Zane said.

The move started an argument between the drivers that lasted two miles, until they reached Highway 240.

As they were pulling onto the highway, Zane said the van’s driver pulled out a pistol. It’s unclear whether he pointed the gun at the other man.

The truck’s driver backed off, called police and followed the van into Richland.

Richland police tracked him to a church parking lot near Gillespie Street and Jadwin Avenue before arresting him.

After talking with the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office, police cited the van’s driver for unlawfully displaying a firearm.
