A Richland man panicked and started stabbing his family
A medical call ended in a violent stabbing Friday morning near Columbia Park Trail in Richland.
Richland police Lt. Chris Lee said someone called medics Friday to help Derek Brown, 32, with an unknown medical problem.
Brown then suffered a kind of panic attack while emergency crews were en route to the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue.
He became confrontational and ran to the house next door, where his brother Devin Brown, 27, and mother were staying.
Lee said Derek Brown pulled a knife and started stabbing his younger brother.
Devin Brown had wounds to his face, head and arms. The Browns’ mother also was hurt, but Lee said he did not know how severely.
All three were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland and were in stable condition.
Lee said police were talking with the Browns and other witnesses, but they did not yet have a motive for the attack.
