He lost a tire fleeing police. He kept driving for another hour
A Washington man will likely need new rims once he’s done facing several charges in Oregon.
Morrow County sheriff’s deputies got reports of a drunk driver near the Port of Morrow exit along Interstate 84 just before midnight Tuesday.
They caught up with the car and tried to pull it over but Justin M. Sutton, 21, didn’t stop for another mile. He gave deputies his name but then pulled back in to traffic and drove east.
Boardman police and Oregon State Police joined the chase. State police used spike strip to puncture one of Sutton’s front tires at 12:14 a.m.
But that didn’t stop him. He left the freeway and kept driving for another hour on county roads, slowing from 30 mph to 10 mph. He was driving all over the road, but at slow speeds, said Morrow County officials.
Finally at 1:10 a.m., Sutton stopped and was arrested. He is being held on investigation of DUI, attempting to elude and reckless driving. Bail was set at $20,000.
It’s not clear what town he is from.
