Pedestrian hit by 2 cars remains in coma
A 21-year-old Yakima man remains in a coma nearly a week after he was hit by two cars on a dark Finley road.
Investigators may never know why Jesse B. Nickens was in the middle of northbound lane of Highway 397 at 10:56 p.m. Friday, said Trooper Chris Thorson.
He has been in critical condition at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland since he was hit by a Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Raquel M. Dufree of Medford, Ore., and a Buick LeSabre driven by a teen.
Nickens hasn’t been able to talk to troopers, Thorson said.
Neither driver was hurt, and it’s been determined they weren’t at fault, he said.
