Pedestrian killed by semi while crossing Kennewick street
A pedestrian was killed reportedly trying to cross Columbia Drive in Kennewick about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A truck pulling a trailer was traveling east on East Columbia Drive when it hit the pedestrian near the intersection with North Jean Street, about two blocks east of the off-ramp from Highway 395. A witness said the pedestrian was a man.
It was not immediately clear if the pedestrian was crossing mid-block and if another car was involved. The roadway has five lanes — two in either direction and a turning lane.
The Washington State Patrol and Kennewick Police Department were still at the scene Tuesday night.
The eastbound lanes near the double roundabout off Highway 395 were closed for a time. No other information was immediately available.
