Yakima man hit by 2 cars while walking on Finley highway

A 21-year-old Yakima man was hospitalized late Friday after he was hit by two cars while walking in the northbound lane of Highway 397 in Finley.

Jesse B. Nickens was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland following the 10:56 p.m. incident.

It is not known why he was walking in the lane of travel on the highway near Bryson Brown Road.

A Washington State Patrol report said the pedestrian was struck by a Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Raquel M. Dufree of Medford, Ore., and a Buick LeSabre driven by a minor.

Neither driver was injured. They both were wearing seat belts, the state patrol said.

The state Department of Transportation shut down the highway for 1 1/2 hours while troopers investigated and cleared the scene.
