Man ditches ride, shoes in failed attempt to escape Pasco police
First a Richland man ditched his ride, then his sandals before police caught up with him following a Tuesday morning police chase.
Zachary T. Lund, 23, was the passenger in a Nissan Altima when Pasco police Officer Joshua Glass tried to stop the car near the intersection of Sylvester Street and 14th Avenue at 12:06 a.m.
The driver, Bailey R. Nelson, 24, of Pasco, allegedly tried to escape, leading officers on a chase through a large portion of the city into a cul-de-sac at the end of Thistledown Drive. The pair ran from the car, and Nelson was caught and was booked into the Franklin County Jail in an investigative hold for attempting to elude a police officer.
Lund lost his sandals in his escape from police, but officers were able to identify him.
He showed up at a nearby Maverik convenience store at 1:30 a.m. wearing socks, but no shoes. Franklin County sheriff’s deputies arrested him for an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant.
