An arsonist left a clue behind for Pasco police early Monday morning — a gas can.

People reported seeing a Dodge Stratus on fire on a dirt road off Road 40 in Pasco shortly after midnight Monday.

Officers discovered a red gas can where they believe the car was initially parked. The car had rolled away from where it apparently caught fire.

Some sagebrush burned but the fire didn’t spread to any buildings.

The car was not reported stolen.
