Man claims he was ‘jumped,’ backpack stolen outside Kennewick store
A 24-year-old man reported being “jumped” in the parking lot of a Kennewick grocery store early Saturday.
Kennewick police were called to Albertsons about 3:30 a.m. for reports of an alleged robbery.
The man said he was hit with a crowbar and his backpack stolen by a group of teenage males, according to a Kennewick police Facebook post.
The suspects drove away in a red, 4-door sedan.
Police said later Saturday that investigators are looking into the legitimacy of the robbery claim, or whether the man got into some kind of fight with the group.
Anyone who was in the area at that time and witnessed the incident is asked to contact Kennewick police at 509-628-0333.
