Kennewick man accused of kidnapping woman, threatening to kill her if she called police
A Kennewick man is locked up on $100,000 bail for allegedly holding a woman against her will after the two got into a fight.
Dannie C. Brashear, 42, pleaded innocent in Benton County Superior Court to second-degree kidnapping and felony harassment. Both charges include a domestic violence allegation.
His trial is set for Sept. 25.
The initial incident happened on July 28, but the woman told Kennewick police she did not report it at the time because she was frightened for her life, court documents said.
But when Brashear harassed her again two days later by climbing into her car through the window and refusing to get out, the woman said she knew it was time to call for help, documents said.
The woman said the two started fighting after Brashear allegedly struck a dog. When she tried to walk away from the argument, he hit her in the face and held her down, court documents said.
In response to her threats to call police, Brashear told the woman he would “kill her as soon as he got out of jail,” documents said.
The woman had an audio recording of the threat, which she turned over to investigators. She said Brashear knew he was being recorded.
She finally got away from Brashear in the first incident after pretending to be OK with his treatment of her, according to prosecutors.
