1 killed, 2 injured in semi wreck near Othello

An Othello woman was killed and two others, including a 2-year-old child, were injured when a car collided with a semi three miles south of Othello on Monday, Washington State Patrol troopers said.

The wreck happened at 4:31 p.m. as Paula Gonzalez Navarrete, 33, was driving her Nissan Sentra on Hatton Road, attempted to turn left onto Highway 24 and struck an oncoming semi truck. She failed to yield right of way, the WSP reported.

Gonzalez Navarrete died at the scene. Her passenger, Ruby E. Alvarado Gonzalez, 2, and the truck’s driver, Peter B. Maxwell, 36, of East Wenatchee, were taken to Othello Community hospital.

All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts.
