Richland police investigate baby’s death

Officials are looking into the death of a 4-month-old baby who died at a Richland hospital of unknown reasons Friday.

Alice Elizabeth Love Hubbard of Richland died at Kadlec Regional Medical Center on Aug. 5 after she stopped breathing at home and her parents rushed her to the hospital, said officials. Her parents are Robert Hubbard and Katherine Nelson.

Richland police Capt. Mike Cobb said they are investigating because there is no obvious medical reason for her death.

The Benton County Coroner’s Office ordered an autopsy but the results will take several weeks to return, said Deputy Coroner William Leach. He said Sudden Infant Death Syndrome has not been ruled out.
