All ballots must be returned or postmarked today to count in Washington’s Aug. 2 primary election.

The 2016 primary ballot includes a long list of races for federal and statewide offices, including the state Legislature. Local races include posts on the Benton and Franklin county commissions and the Benton-Franklin Superior Court bench.

Some Benton County voters are being asked to approve tax requests. There are no funding requests in Franklin County.

Kennewick voters will decide the fate of a sales tax request to expand the Three Rivers Convention Center. Residents of Benton County Fire Districts 2 and 4 will decide on separate requests to pay for firefighting equipment and to support emergency medical services, respectively.

Benton County had received 15,410 ballots as of July 29 for a turnout of 15 percent.

Benton County drop boxes are at the Benton County Courthouse in Prosser, the county’s Kennewick and Richland annexes, Benton City City Hall, Kennewick City Hall, West Richland City Hall and at Jefferson Park.

Franklin County had received 3,941 ballots as of July 29 for a turnout of 12 percent.

Franklin County drop boxes are at the Franklin County Courthouse, TRAC, Fire Station 3, 2018 Road 84, the county elections office, 116 N. Third Ave., and in Connell at 619 W. Clark St.

The top two finishers in the primary elections will qualify for the Nov. 8 general election ballot.
