Sen. Patty Murray rallies Democrats in Pasco
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., joked that finding her name on the primary ballot among 17 challengers was like finding the cartoon character Waldo as she rallied Democrats Sunday afternoon in Pasco.
Despite competing with Water Follies nearby on the Columbia River, the event to get out the vote drew about 80 people to the Plumbers and Pipefitters union hall to hear Murray. A long line formed with people waiting to to speak with her and have a photo snapped afterward.
Murray’s been telling young women for years that they should run for office. Now they have the role model of a woman in the position to become president of the United States, she said.
She did not mention Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump by name, but said the nation did not need a candidate who is rude, divisive, a bully and calls out people because of their heritage or religion.
One hundred days were left as of Sunday to “send a message across the board that bullies cannot win,” she said.
