West Richland library to talk baseball, Hall of Fame on July 20
Mid-Columbia Libraries’ West Richland branch is marking former Seattle Mariner Ken Griffey Jr.’s entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame with a Wednesday program about the honor and the people and nostalgia of baseball.
“Let’s Talk Baseball” will include Susan Towne of West Richland, a prominent regional baseball card collector, a release said. She has more than 70,000 cards as well as other memorabilia. She’ll have some items on display in the West Richland branch library on Van Giesen Street through the rest of the month.
Towne and branch manager Tom Moak will lead the 5:30 program, which will include talking about the various figures in the Hall of Fame but also the sights and sounds of the game and even poetry written about it. All who attend the program also will receive baseball cards.
