Chance of thunderstorms Monday in Tri-Cities

A 40 percent chance of thunderstorms is forecast for the Tri-Cities July 18 by the National Weather Service.

The worst of the storm should blow through east of the Tri-Cities, hitting Walla Walla and Dayton. Hail is possible in those areas.

In the Tri-Cities, the risk of thunderstorms should drop by late afternoon, with only a chance of isolated showers forecast after 8 p.m.

During the day a west wind of 5 to 13 mph is forecast, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

The moist, unstable air moving through the region will keep the high in the Tri-Cities down in the low 80s on July 18.

For the rest of the week, sunshine and hot temperatures are forecast. The high should be around 90 degrees Wednesday through Sunday in the Tri-Cities, according to the weather service.
