Campers encouraged to use Benton County campgrounds during powwow
The public is encouraged to try Benton County parks and nearby boat ramps July 15-17, when Roosevelt Park downstream at John Day Dam is used for a Yakama Nation powwow.
The public can attend the powwow, but public camping and alcohol use will not be allowed. The Columbia River park and boat ramp will be restricted to day use starting July 14.
The Army Corps says campers may want to try Crow Butte Campground near Paterson — email res@portofbenton.com for reservations — or Plymouth Park near Plymouth — go to recreation.gov for reservations.
Boaters may try alternate boat ramps at Plymouth Park, Umatilla Marina Park and Crow Butte Park.
