KID payments help 68 families avoid foreclosure

The Helping Hands Program of the Kennewick Irrigation District has distributed $18,000 to help 68 families avoid foreclosure this year because they are unable to pay irrigation assessments, according to KID.

The program is paid for by 30 percent of penalty charges collected for late payments and donations of customers.

The Benton-Franklin Community Action Connection screens families and administers the program. Donations may be made on customer payment coupons.
