Boys & Girls Club percussion program earns national recognition
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties’ Music and Arts Center percussion program received national recognition for program excellence.
IMPACT percussion received a merit award for program excellence in the arts category during the Boys & Girls Clubs’ 110th national conference in New Orleans in early May. The award, which comes with $2,500, will be used by the percussion program to buy new equipment.
IMPACT is a competitive winter percussion ensemble from the Music and Arts Center in downtown Kennewick.
Last year, the group took first place in competitions in Vancouver, Wash., and Salem, Ore.
