Master Gardener event sends kids on ‘secret garden’ mission in Kennewick
The Benton-Franklin Master Gardener’s Foundation and WSU Extension Master Gardener Program is holding its third annual Solstice in the Garden event from 3 to 7 p.m. June 18 at the demonstration garden, 1620 S. Union St. in Kennewick.
This year’s theme is “Passport to the Secret Garden.” Children will receive a passport to visit 18 different gardens. Activities include face painting, bean bag tosses, making paper pots and birdhouses, and more.
Adults may participate in a Master Gardeners plant sale, Ask a Master Gardener event, workshops, and more.
The purpose of the WSU Extension Master Gardener program is to train volunteers to be effective community educators in gardening and environmental stewardship. Master Gardeners provide science-based information on gardening to the public.
