Boater, boat rescued off Clover Island
A boater who fell into the Columbia River near Clover Island was rescued by a civilian boater Thursday morning.
The unnamed boater, who was not wearing a life jacket, was plucked from the water downriver from Clover Island.
The Kennewick Fire Department led the rescue effort after bystanders reported seeing one or two people in distress at 10:21 a.m. and an unmanned boat turning in circles.
Pasco Fire, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and Columbia Basin Dive Rescue joined the effort.
The runaway boat was towed to Clover Island.
