Prosser seeks new school director after resignation of Bruce Matsumura
The Prosser School Board is seeking applications from residents to serve out the remainder of the position held by Bruce Matsumura.
The board approved Matsumura’s resignation June 7. He represented Director District 5, which is up for election in 2017.
He told the Yakima Herald-Republic he was stepping down because he will be moving to Douglas County, out of Prosser School District boundaries.
The district will accept applications from residents who live in director district through June 27. Applicants and nominees must be registered voters.
The fifth district is roughly south of West Johnson Road and North of West Buena Vista Road.
Candidates will be asked to supply a biographical sketch as well as a statement of interest.
The district will review applications June 30 and select up to five people. Interviews will be held July 6, with the final appointment tentatively set for July 12.
