Pasco man wins $75,000 in lottery

Felipe Tellez and his family will be packing up and moving after winning $75,000 playing Scratch.

He bought the ticket from Sunrise Food Mart on North 28th Avenue in Pasco while with a friend and he told Lottery officials he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the winning prize amount.

“We couldn’t believe it until we scanned the ticket,” said Tellez. “I told my sister and then went straight to the Yakima office.”

Tellez told Lottery officials he’s excited about his win because he began building a house for his family, but has yet to complete the long project. With his new prize money, he’ll be able to finish construction and finally move in.

The winner also said he plans to take his family out for a celebratory lunch, then put any remaining money into the bank.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide.
